Army Structure
The army is divided into two major branches:
- Space Corps: fleet and orbital operations.
- Telluric Corps: ground forces and exosoldiers.
It is jointly commanded by the Council of Guardians and the Warlords.
The Warlords
The Warlords are high-ranking officers, each controlling an armada (the largest army detachment). They also embody a senior civil servant role, close to ministers in their political responsibilities.
Official selection: Warlords are officially chosen through a combat-tournament against the most recently appointed Warlord. This tournament combines:
- A 1v1 duel in an arcanotechnological simulated environment
- A strategic RTS-style confrontation
Political reality: In practice, it is often a political choice made by the Council of Guardians, and the outcome of the combat is predetermined.
Number and power: The Empire typically has around twenty Warlords. They are subordinates of the Council, but they wield considerable power and influence. Some, though rarely, can be very ambitious and seek to challenge the Council.
Attire: Warlords wear ceremonial uniforms during public appearances. Outside of these, they dress normally. In combat, they use high-technology exoskeletons or battle armor.
The Empire’s strength relies less on the average quality of its soldiers than on the variety and specialization of its elite units, serving these experienced strategists through direct and efficient chains of command. In wartime, the coordinated use of these specialized groups allows them to overwhelm the enemy through a multiplicity of different tactical approaches.
