Classification of Conversion Modes
Over the centuries, arcanotechnicians identified and catalogued different ways to convert the Flux. Each school represents a specific conversion mode - a particular way of extracting ambient Flux and transforming it into a type of physical phenomenon.
The Theory of Harmonics
Researchers discovered that the Flux can decay through different resonance channels, each producing a specific type of energy. These conversion harmonics physically correspond to different possible electronic configurations during coupling:
- The arcanotechnician’s neural configuration: Determines which electronic patterns can be generated
- Local Flux properties: The density and state of the field influence the probability of decay
- Coupling precision: The quantum coherence of electronic states affects efficiency
A practitioner generally exhibits a natural affinity for certain harmonics, determined by their unique neural structure. Some brains more easily generate the electronic configurations corresponding to Fire (configuration alpha), while others naturally excel in Light patterns (configuration beta). This neurological affinity is partly innate and partly developed through training.
