Innate Resistances Cost
Resistances represent your natural ability to withstand different types of damage, independently of your equipment.
The Three Resistances
| Resistance | Abbreviation | Cost per Point | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mechanical Resistance | RMEC | 3 points | Resistance to impacts, projectiles, pressure, shockwaves |
| Radiative Resistance | RRAD | 4 points | Resistance to fire, cold, electricity, light, radiation |
| Internal Resistance | RINT | 6 points | Resistance to life drains, necrosis, corruption, internal attacks |
Baseline: All characters start with RMEC 0, RRAD 0, RINT 0 (free)
Formula
Total cost = (RMEC x 3) + (RRAD x 4) + (RINT x 6)
Examples
- RMEC +2, RRAD +1, RINT +1 (tank build): (2x3) + (1x4) + (1x6) = 16 points
- RMEC +1, RRAD +1, RINT +1 (balanced build): (1x3) + (1x4) + (1x6) = 13 points
- RMEC +0, RRAD +2, RINT +2 (anti-Flux arcanist): (0x3) + (2x4) + (2x6) = 20 points
- RMEC +3, RRAD +0, RINT +0 (physical warrior): (3x3) + (0x4) + (0x6) = 9 points
Building Advice
Innate resistances represent your natural resistance (training, constitution, Flux mastery). They stack with resistances provided by equipment (armor, shields).
Typical builds:
- Light spellcaster: RMEC +0, RRAD +1, RINT +2 = 14 points
- Balanced warrior: RMEC +1, RRAD +1, RINT +1 = 13 points
- Solid base, supplemented by heavy armor
- Specialized tank: RMEC +3, RRAD +1, RINT +1 = 19 points
- Maximizes RMEC to be near-impervious to physical weapons
- No resistance: RMEC +0, RRAD +0, RINT +0 = 0 points
- Depends entirely on equipment (economical approach)
Typical range: 0-20 points in innate resistances
Cost Rationale
- RMEC (3 pts): The cheapest because it’s the most common damage type and equipment already provides a lot of RMEC
- RRAD (4 pts): Intermediate cost, elemental damage is frequent but equipment provides less protection
- RINT (6 pts): The most expensive because intentionally rare and hard to increase. Very few pieces of equipment and spells provide RINT, making innate resistances particularly valuable
Important: Innate resistances stack with equipment resistances. A character with +2 innate RMEC and armor with +3 RMEC will have +5 total RMEC.
